Rocky valley is a place of outstanding natural beauty nestling between Tintagel and Boscastle on the north Cornwall coast. A public footpath follows the Trevillett River as it meanders down the valley to the sea, passing through beautiful and dramatic scenery on its way. Starting as mature woodland, the charming sylvan landscape changes quickly to moorland before it gives way to the angular and spectacular slate that gives the valley its name.

Sunny days are perfect for relaxing beside the river and watching it cascade into many pools on its way down to the mouth of the river via cauldrons, waterfalls and the gorge. On windy days the waves breaking into the entrance of the inlet are both spectacular, mesmerising and dangerous.

The ruins of another mill and Bronze Age labyrinths add further interest to what is a short but delightful walk down the valley. Once at the sea, walkers have the option to walk to Tintagel Castle or Boscastle, about 60 and 90 minutes respectively steady walking distance. From the headland, there are stunning views of the sea, cliffs and the beaches in Bossiney Cove at low tide.
