George & Dragon is a pet friendly country pub situated in the village of Clifton, just five minutes drive from Penrith in Cumbria. We are perfect for a relaxing countryside getaway.

We have a range of individually styled bedrooms to stay in. All the rooms offer plenty of character and come with a range of facilities, including en suite bathrooms, Wi-Fi, smart TVs, coffee machines, tea and coffee, a hair dryer and bath robes. Each room has comfy beds and soft linens.

You can choose from our single, Clifton and Lowther rooms. We also have two family rooms and our Lowther rooms can be booked for a family area.

The bedrooms are all dog friendly. We provide a treat, poo bags and a map of local walks.

Our restaurant has received lots of awards over the years and offers fantastic dishes to suit all tastes. We breed our own pedigree shorthorns and rare breed pork and serve red deer venison from our woods. Our kitchen gardens grow seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs. The menus are accompanied by a great wine list.

You can explore nearby Penrith whilst staying with us. There are golf courses, swimming pools, pigeon shooting and cinemas to enjoy. Activities in the area include walking, cycling, fishing and canoeing. Attractions to visit include:
