Black Bull Hotel is a pet friendly hotel in Kirkby Stephen and is an warm, welcoming and comfortable place to stay when visiting Cumbria. As well as offering bed and breakfast accommodation, we have a popular bar and restaurant that serves home cooked food and traditional cask ales.

Two of the double rooms can be adapted to family rooms, with fold out beds being added to accommodate children.
A hearty Cumbrian breakfast is included in the tariff, and evening meals are available in the bar and restaurant until 9pm every night.
The Black Bull has a spacious bar area, with informal seating, stools at the bar, and plenty of standing room for busier nights! The enclosed beer garden to the rear of the pub contains several unusual tables, and is very popular on sunny afternoons. During the winter we have an open fire; very welcoming when returning from a wet, windy walk!
With provision for children, secure storage for cycles, a packed lunch making service, and dogs permitted when accompanied by well behaved owners, we try to offer something for everyone!
Kirkby Stephen has a fascinating history and many interesting old buildings. Kirkby Stephen and the surrounding area boasts many sites of historic interest, including parish churches and castles such as Brougham, Brough, Pendragon and Lammerside. It is surrounded by a landscape of pastoral rural scenery and wild uplands and offers breathtaking views in every direction. Remotely located from large towns and population centres, Kirkby Stephen has developed a strong and self-sufficient identity and a vibrant sense of community.
