Fox & Hounds Country Hotel offers dog friendly accommodation at Eggesford Barton near Chulmleigh. We have a selection of beautifully appointed rooms available, providing a comfortable and luxurious place from which to explore Devon.

We have an array of individually designed bedrooms available, all the rooms boast antique French furniture, free Wi-Fi, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. We also have delightful rear facing rooms which enjoys gorgeous garden views and look over the river to Heywood Forest and up to Eggesford Church. Our ground floor pet friendly room includes a patio area, great for owners who need to let their four legged friend out if they need the toilet.

Standard Rooms – These have a king size bed with flat screen TV, radio, beverage tray, hair dryer and toiletries. Please advise when booking if you require a twin set up. For those with children, these rooms can comfortably fit a cot or a child bed.

Superior & family rooms – Our largest and most luxurious rooms, which feature a four poster or king size bed. They are all furnished to a high standard and include flat screen TV, radio, beverage tray, hair dryer, fluffy bathrobes and luxury toiletries. Our largest family suite has a separate lounge area with a double sofa bed and space for cots. The ground floor superior room has two double beds, a double sofa bed and space for a cot.

Cosy double rooms – These are ideal for solo travellers or as a retreat for 2. They have double beds, en suite shower facilities, TV, hair dryer and a beverage tray.

Eggesford Suite – This suite has a huge four poster bed that is 7.5 feet wide. It is beautifully furnished and is a truly luxurious room – perfect for special occasions. The Eggesford Suite is truly stunning, with a bath that is big enough for two.

Heywood Suite - Our wonderful ground floor suite comes with a mini kitchen, deck overlooking the garden, double ended bath plus separate walk in shower, plus private access to and from the garden.

Our hotel restaurant is open to both residents and non residents. We have a warm and welcoming bar as well as a popular restaurant. Fresh produce is a passion of the owners. From traditional homemade classics like beer battered fish and chips to our specialty sharing platters with Devon’s finest meat and game. Your meal will be bursting with the freshest Devon ingredients. Warm your back by the log fire and take in the local artwork on the walls. There are no rules regarding dress or children - our restaurant lounge offers a relaxed dining area to enjoy our splendid food or when the sun shines the garden terrace is perfect for a drink as the sun sets over our lovely garden.

There is an amazing array of activities on offer at the hotel or in the nearby Devon countryside. The hotel is famous for its fishing with a rich history associated with trout and salmon fishing. If you fancy something more energetic there is great riding, seasonal shooting, plenty of walking and numerous golf courses within a few minutes’ drive. Slightly further afield are the beaches of North Devon like Westward Ho! just over half an hour away or Saunton Sands and Croyde, famous for surfing, is about 50 minutes’ drive.
