Henchard offers luxury self-catering holiday accommodation in Higher Bockhampton, Dorchester, Dorset. This stunning single storey large thatched holiday cottage sleeps 12 in amazing comfort, and offers a huge amount of living space and outdoor space for groups or larger families.

We have a range of excellent facilities to enjoy on-site, including two tennis courts, a wooden play house, a games room complete with full size pool table and a play area with a nature trail, trampoline, football nets, swings and an adventure course. We have a kitchen garden where you can pick your own fruit and vegetables and a fully enclosed dog exercise area. Outdoor activities to enjoy include a badminton lawn, croquet lawn and boule. You are also welcome to collect eggs from our free-range roaming hens.

Henchard is simply stunning, with an enormous sitting room and dining area with incredibly charismatic exposed beam ceiling, and a dining table which can sit 12+. A 52’’ smart TV and DVD player complete Wii games console including games and controllers is also present. We have worked hard to create an incredible atmospheric space, perfect for creating memorable moments after enjoying our facilities and the surrounding area.

The galley kitchen is well equipped with two ovens, gas hob, dishwasher, two fridges, a freezer, washing machine and microwave. Beyond the kitchen there is a utility area with cloakroom W.C and hand basin.

The four bedrooms in the holiday cottage are very large. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed and contemporary en suite shower room plus room for a cot. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed and set of full size bunk beds. Bedroom 3 is a kids’ room with full size bunk beds, plus a set of twin zip link beds and room for a cot. Bedroom 4 has a king size bed and en suite facilities. All the rooms come with a smart TV and free secure WiFi.

All of the bedrooms have generous storage and dressing space. There is also a spacious modern family bathroom with shower over the bath in addition to the several en-suites.

Doors from the sitting room open out onto the large patio area with an 8 person private hot tub, barbecue, outdoor seating for 12+, and a large enclosed lawn (perfect for roaming children and dogs alike) overlooking the lake in the paddock below. There are modern, comfortable loungers to relax on while someone else gets busy with the barbecue and the children will love the space available for outdoor fun and games.

Whilst staying with us you can visit lots of attractions in the area. Visit Farmer Palmers Farm Park, an award-winning family attraction with cow milking, a splash zone, tractor trailer rides. Enjoy the exhibitions and vehicles at the Tank Museum or see Corfe Castle. Attractions to visit include:
