Details

The General Stores, Mill End Street, Mitcheldean is a large property dating back to the 1400's, which is available for holiday or business let, for full weeks or weekend and mid-week breaks, for team building and training, for weddings, for photoshoots and film location and for family and friends. It sleeps 14-20 and includes a self-contained family unit.

The Upper Malt House, finished in 2010, now features a commercial open plan style kitchen, with a seating area at one end and a graffiti wall by Felix Braun (FLX - Children of the Can). It can be used as training space for mid-week meetings and training, or for dining for up to 30 seated over two tables. The area features lights by Helena Christensen, gypsy chandeliers hanging from the beams, and hand printed cutlery wall paper.

The Upper Malt House Kitchen has two dishwashers, two fridges and a freezer and everything required to cook for large groups - one group of guests with lots of small children, who had hired all four units, managed to cook a Roast Sunday Lunch for 35 guests.

The Upper Malt House Bedrooms are small but bijou, inspired by Morrocan simplicity of styling! They have bunk beds with the lower bunk extended into a 4ft double, so that they can be used as doubles or as bunks.

The Lower Malt House Double Bedroom is minimally furnished, and has a vintage arts and crafts hand embroidered bedspread and hand embroidered shirt on the wall. It has its own en-suite shower room with large over head rain shower.

The back of the property forms a three sided courtyard, creating a completely private oasis in the middle of a village setting, with views up onto the bracken covered hills behind.

The garden falls into various areas. The lower garden has an al-fresco table & seating for 15, immediately outside the kitchen. There is an enclosed rockery and fresh herb garden from which you may pick herbs. There is an enclosed area with a large built in stone BBQ, and an upper garden for kids to play.

If travelling from Bristol by far the quickest route is via Chepstow and along the A48 towards Gloucester on the Welsh side of the river. This avoids all the small villages in The Forest itself, and also avoids any potential rush hour traffic or road works in Gloucester.

Rates: £4,000.00 for large house - minimum for a 3 night weekend & £540.00 for the cottage for a 3 night weekend. Each place has its own hot tub and BBQ.
