Dougarie Estate offers charming self catering accommodation in Dougarie, based in a wonderful setting. Our estate near Machrie covers 25000 acres and is perfect for an idyllic holiday on the Isle of Arran.

We have 5 properties to choose from: House of Machrie, The Towers, Laundry Cottage, Machrie Farm Cottage and The Bothy. All our tastefully furnished and well-equipped to suit all your needs. Lots of activities can be enjoyed on the estate, including fly-fishing for sea trout and salmon on the River Iorsa, lobster potting boating trips, mackerel fishing, clay pigeon shooting and small-bore rifle target practise. We can also book nature tours and whisky distillery tours.

House of Machrie

Our Victorian country house enjoys coastal views over the Kilbrannan Sound to the Mull of Kintyre. The house has been modernised and sleeps up to 14 people. Bedrooms consist of 3 doubles and 4 twins, plus 6 bathrooms (5 en suite). There is a spacious drawing room, family TV/sitting room, dining room, conservatory, fully equipped kitchen and barn room with table tennis and billiard table.

The Towers

We offer accommodation in this 19th Century keep. The thoughtfully renovated building has a roof terrace that offers views. The property sleeps up to 8 people in 2 doubles and 2 twin rooms. There is a reception room, fully equipped kitchen, 4 bath/shower rooms (3 en suite), utility room and an open plan sitting room/dining room.

Laundry Cottage

Our beamed cottage is ideal for a family or group holiday and the sunroom offers views over the Kilbrannan Sound to the Mull of Kintyre. Throughout the property, there is modern artwork. The cottage sleeps 4 people in 1 double and 1 twin, with both including en suite facilities. The kitchen is well-equipped and you can unwind in the open plan living room.

Machrie Farm Cottage

We offer accommodation in Machrie Farm Cottage, based on the edge of an ancient Scots Pine woodland. The cottage overs views over farmland to the Kilbrannan Sound. In total, the cottage sleeps 5 people in 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single. There is 1 reception room, a kitchen and dining area.

The Bothy

Our recently refurbished apartment can be booked individually or with the Towers for bigger groups. The apartment sleeps 4 in two bedrooms, each of which can be made as a twin or double. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. There is a kitchen/dining area and a living with a real fire.

Our estate is in a fantastic position for discovering all that the area has to offer. Machrie Bay Golf Course offers 9 holes to play on and enjoys views over Kilbrannan Sound towards the Kintyre Peninsula. Experience mountain walks or visit the King's Cave just north of Drumadoon. You can visit the Islands and Peninsulas on the West Coast of Scotland by taking a trip on the Calmac Ferries. Attractions to visit include:
