Details

Hearthstanes Estate is home to a collection of pet friendly steading cottage conversions, located in a lovely part of the Scottish Borders at Tweedsmuir near Peebles and Biggar. Our holiday homes are all tastefully finished and are ideal for those who want to explore this beautiful part of Scotland. Stalking and fishing are also available on site.

We generate our own solar and hydroelectricity, which powers the whole farm and provides clean energy for lighting and heating to the Steading.

There are a total of five separate steading cottage conversions, each offering between one and three double bedrooms, the majority with their own bathrooms. They all have their own living room with 81cm (32") Freeview television and integral DVD, and a well appointed kitchen with stove/oven, fridge/freezer and washer/drier. In total, we can offer accommodation for up to 25 guests and can provide baby cots and high chairs if required. There is free StarLink and BT internet access throughout the Steading complex, as well as good mobile phone coverage.

We have the following holiday homes available:

Glenheurie Rig – Sleeps 5-7

Manyleith Rig – Sleeps 4

Lategillan Rig – Sleeps 6-8

Mathieside Cairn – Sleeps 2-4

Oliver Dod – Sleeps 2.

Glenheurie Rig Cottage (Steading No 1) has one bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible. Some of the cottages have sofa beds in their living-rooms.

At Hearthstanes Estate we can offer hours of hiking and biking on the open hills and through the forests. The Broadlaw on Hearthstanes, at 2,756 feet / 840 meters is the highest peak in the Scottish Borders. Most of the farm is classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), which is a conservation designation denoting protected areas in the United Kingdom. There is exceptional sika and roe deer hunting, with professional stalkers on the Estate. They utilise numerous stands and hides throughout the farm, which has a well established network of tracks and forestry rides.
