Brackenthwaite Cottages, Yealand Redmayne, Carnforth, Lancashire
Brackenthwaite Cottages are located just outside of Yealand Redmayne close to Carnforth in rural Lancashire. Our lovely cottages are nestled in the heart of Arnside & Silverdale a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Our cottages form part of an attractive 16th Century complex of limestone buildings, set around a large private courtyard and situated on a 70 acre farm with woodland. There is a lovely nature trail around the farm where buzzards, deer and many wild flowers can be seen. On the farm rare breed cattle and sheep graze and our poultry and waterfowl roam freely.
Our clean and comfortable cottages have outdoor seating and barbeque areas and there is ample private off road parking. FreeSat TV is now installed in each cottage, as well as a DVD player. For a small additional charge of £20.00 we allow one well behaved dog per cottage (except Brackenthwaite Cottage which is pet free) and visitors may also bring their own horse on holiday, as there are stabling and grazing facilities on the farm.
All bed linen and electricity is include in the price of your stay, however we do note provide hand or bath towels. Cots, highchairs and baby baths are also available on prior request free of charge. We also include in the price small essentials like washing up liquid, dish cloths, tea towels, kitchen and toilet rolls.
We are situated directly on the south Cumbria and north Lancashire county borders, midway between Kendal and Lancaster. The coast is only three miles away at both Arnside and Silverdale. From our doorstep there are wonderful opportunities for both walking and cycling. We are located on the National Cycle Network and there are opportunities for off road mountain biking. Fishing, horse riding and golf are also nearby.
Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve and Gait Barrows National Nature Reserve (which was originally part of Brackenthwaite Farm) are within two miles. The area has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) due, in part, to the large areas of limestone pavement, limestone walls, local historic lime kilns and diverse flora and fauna.
In addition to the immediate attractions, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, the Forest of Bowland AONB and Morecambe Bay are all easily accessible.
There are several places to eat out in the immediate area and the nearest pubs are two miles away at Beetham, Arnside, Yealand Conyers and Hale.
