Hope Street Hotel, Liverpool, Merseyside
Hope Street is the main artery through Liverpool’s Georgian neighbourhood - bookended majestically by the city’s two cathedrals. The street is home to the Everyman Theatre (a National treasure) and Liverpool Philharmonic Hall (with eponymous international orchestra) and is threaded with University departments, an eclectic collection of public art pieces, a plethora of independent restaurants and infamous public houses. Close around its corners are the Unity Theatre, Hardman House (a National Trust property) and behind the Catholic Cathedral - the delightful Victoria Gallery and Museum.
Sitting pretty in the middle is hope street hotel, Liverpool’s original boutique hotel with rooms and restaurant spanning old (1860) and new (2009) buildings.
The simplicity of the design complements the original Victorian interior: pitch pine beams, pink Cheshire brick walls, oak floors and iron pillars. The style is contemporary and urbane with an emphasis throughout on quality; solid birch floors, bespoke cherry wood furniture and oversized beds draped in bright white Egyptian cotton.
