Platform 1 is a luxury, ground floor apartment made from the old public rooms at this historic station, which was built for the Earl of Carlisle in 1845. It was the jewel in the crown of the York to Scarborough line.

Sleeping between 2 -4 people, it has been converted to accommodate everything holiday makers and pets could possibly want for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

At no extra cost, we supply pet bedding, water bowls, biodegradable poo-bags, sofa covers, dog towels and a washing off area, if dogs need a bath!

If you want to take time out in York or need to have time away from your dog, you can do so at Dutch Barn Day Care for Dogs, which is just up the road. This has proved a valuable new service for our guests who have been delighted at how their dogs have enjoyed their time out.

The station’s extensive, well-fenced gardens or the enclosed courtyard provide a safe exercise area, and no need to take the car to walk your dog- you can walk straight into fields and woodland. The Centenary Way, a long distance footpath of 83 miles, crosses our road 50yds from our gate. Turn left for Kirkham Abbey and the Stone Trough Inn, turn right for Crambeck village and Castle Howard.

Platform 1 has something for everyone, relaxing and lazy in a beautiful environment or super-active walking. Yorkshire pubs are mostly dog`friendly and allow dogs into the bar.
