Abbotsford was formerly the home of Sir Walter Scott and can be found at Melrose in Roxburghshire. This 200-year-old historic house is an ideal base from which to explore the Scottish Borders and offers pet friendly holiday accommodation for up to 16 people.

The guest accommodation is located in The Hope Scott Wing, once home to Sir Walter Scott’s granddaughter, Charlotte Hope Scott. The accommodation is luxuriously furnished throughout, providing guests with a wonderful place to stay. Each of the seven en suite bedrooms are individually designed and named after a family member or a distinguished guest that has previously stayed. When the wing was refurbished, many of the original features were retained, as well as some of the family’s belongings, including original artworks and furniture, creating a unique combination of the personal and the historical in this intimate country retreat.

The public rooms include a sumptuous sitting room (originally the withdrawing room of Scott’s wife, Charlotte), a formal dining room seating 16 featuring one of Scott’s most treasured views over the River Tweed, a reading room and a billiard room. There is also a spacious, interior designed kitchen with plenty of room for informal dining, a private courtyard and a private patio garden.
