With a sandy beach and coastal paths right on the doorstep, it’s easy to enjoy outdoor adventures with your four-legged friend when you stay at The Sail Loft self-catering accommodation.

Situated in the picturesque town of Portsoy, Aberdeenshire, The Sail Loft boasts a spectacular location close to the shores of the world-famous Moray Firth coast.

The Moray Firth enjoys its own special micro-climate which makes it the driest part of Scotland. Come and experience for yourself the region that’s referred to locally as ‘Cornwall without the crowds.

It makes for a dog’s delight, with wide-open spaces to explore, and plenty of great backdrops for photos recording those all-important holiday memories.

The Sail Loft offers 25 luxurious beds and bunks. The mattresses are supplied by Royal Warrant holders Glencraft in Aberdeen. That, along with the fresh sea air and the gentle sound of the waves, will make for a restful night. Beds can be made as singles or doubles; some rooms have adjoining doors for larger groups and families.

The accessible single bedroom is adjacent to the toilet and shower room and the 4 and 6-bed bunk rooms are on the ground floor. On the first floor, there are 2 and 3 bedrooms, accessed by the stairs.

Facilities are modern and clean and close to the bedrooms. The open plan kitchen and dining area are well equipped. Unwind in the cosy lounge which has a wood burner. There’s a laundrette and drying room with rinse-out facilities. Outside is a private garden, seating areas with picnic benches and BBQ facilities. The wonderful wood-fired hot tub is a real treat, but must be booked in advance.

Portsoy has bakeries, coffee shops and restaurants, alongside fish and chips and Chinese takeaway, so there are plenty of choices to eat out or in. Be sure to enjoy the Sail Loft’s decked dining platform which has direct access from the kitchen for al fresco eating!

Pick up a walking leaflet available from our reception area showing the best local routes. Discover Loch Soy, a large park with picnic places, pond and children’s play area, or meander around the historic 17th Century harbour where Peaky Blinders scenes were filmed.

Look out for bottlenose dolphins in the bay and other wildlife and birdlife that can be spotted around the coastline. If you fancy taking to the water, Stand Up Paddleboarding hire can be delivered directly to the Sail Loft.
