Argyll Hotel is nestled in a lovely part of Scotland, on the Isle of Iona overlooking the Sound of Iona. We offer comfortable and homely accommodation that is ideally located for exploring Iona and Argyll. For those who are looking for a retreat where you can rest, relax and recuperate, there is no better place to stay.

We aim to provide guests with a place to stay that feels like a home from home. Alongside our comfortable guest rooms, we also provide homely cooking, a warm welcome and great attention to service. The hotel was built in the 1800s and offers rooms of all shapes and sizes. Room amenities include:

All but one of our rooms are en suite. We have a variety of bathrooms, some with just baths, some with showers over baths and some with walk-in showers. If specific facilities are a priority, please inform us on booking. Hypo-allergenic bedding instead of feathers can be requested. If you have additional needs during your stay, please tell us as soon as you think of then and we will do everything we can to arrange things for you!

Guests are very welcome to relax in the lounge, here you will find Wi-Fi internet access, a TV and a lovely log burner.

Both residents and non-residents are very welcome to join us for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Dogs and well-behaved owners can be served in the front two lounges by the front door!.

Morning coffee and light refreshments are available from 10 am. We pride ourselves on provenance. Handcrafted meals are created by Richard, using only the finest garden and local vegetables, shellfish, sustainably landed fish, lamb, hogget and organic dairy products. Local crofters supply us with lamb and hogget (second-year lamb), some pork and soon beef too! We are continuing to work with local crofters to maximize their income from their produce by supplying us directly. Much of the rest of our beef, game and pork is sourced directly from the Mull Slaughterhouse, helping the wider Mull & Iona food-producing community. We are proud to be founding members of the ‘Mull & Iona Food Trail’ so look out for this years ‘Moveable Feasts' events happening throughout the season.

Without doubt, Iona is an amazing venue for events such as weddings, reunions, birthday celebrations and groups of any kind. The Argyll Hotel offers an intimate space for such events. Naturally, this is because of the location and the scenic beauty of the island, but also the remoteness of Iona ensures that people gather for more than just one evening or afternoon. Participants and guests tend to stay for a couple of nights and the event is thereby encompassed within a relaxed group gathering that allows people the time to catch up and see each other properly; trips to Staffa, leisurely walks and playing on the beach all combine with the special occasion to provide a unique and wonderful time.

For those visiting the island with their canine companions, you are not sure of wonderful walks with fantastic scenery. Iona is a small island (only 3.5 miles by 1.5 miles) and is set off the Isle of Mull. It is a truly magical place.
