Oskamull Farm House, Ulva Ferry, Isle of Mull, Argyll
Oskamull Farm House offers self catering accommodation in a lovely part of Scotland, near the Ulva Ferry on the Isle of Mull. Our farm was one of the bigger farms on the island in the 18th Century, with one of the earliest references we have found is when it was rented to a family in the 1680ís for just a shilling a year.
The views at this self catering accommodation are spectacular looking as you can see from the Southwest across Loch Na Keal towards Ben More and the Gruline rocks. Further across is the island of Inch Kenneth with its buried kings and old chapel, and then on to the Ross of Mull and Iona in the very distance.
The guest house itself is a lovely comfortable home with up to date facilities, including Wi-Fi, satellite television, a lovely Aga kitchen, 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms and sitting room.
There is a snug with a wood burning stove, and an excellent utility room with clothes airer and washing machine. The house itself, is 11 miles West from the village of Salen, with shops and pubs and restaurants.
Tobermory is a half hour drive from Salen, the main town of this island, and a pretty and bustling place at times of the year. You can see the boat trips going out to the island of Staffa, and Fingal's cave, as they sail past, another of the many activities available on the island. Sea food is available a plenty, both in local restaurants and from local sources. Walking is also a major pass time, with hills, tracks, or beaches to promenade or climb. Fishing permits are available, and there is much wildlife to observe, be it an organised tour or just your own wandering observations, with the famous Sea Eagles or Golden, clearly viewable. Otters too, are about, at certain times and places, in the day. Just a short trip away is Ulva Ferry, with the amazing Boathouse restaurant/tearoom, where you can sample half a dozen local oysters with a glass of wine, or just tea and cake. This is reached by crossing the water on the ferry, just a few seconds away, on this beautiful little island, covered in deciduous trees and no cars!
The position and view from Oskamull is unrivalled and one of the most spectacular on this favoured part of the island. The Oban - Craignure ferry is a 45 minute drive, easy and very scenic drive.
