Coll Bunkhouse offers wonderful accommodation in Arinagour on the Isle of Coll. The hostel is within its own grounds in a truly idyllic location and is an ideal base for exploring Argyll, Bute and the surrounding islands. From the hostel, you can enjoy stunning views of rolling countryside and benefit from being close to spectacular beaches, beautiful wildlife and unspoilt wilderness. The island is a great place for cycling.

Coll Bunkhouse is a dog friendly hostel which is perfect for a memorable holiday away. The hostel sleeps up to 14 persons (+ travel cots) across one mixed dorm of six, and two privates rooms sleeping up to 3 or up to 5 persons respectively (each includes a double bed). It has level access and modern facilities throughout: All rooms have a washbasin, private lockers with ample storage space and individual reading lights by each bed. Bed linen is provided upon arrival and towels can be hired from reception or requested when booking online. Free wireless internet is available throughout the building.

The bunkhouse has a fully equipped kitchen and there’s an abundance of dining space, perfect for groups to eat together after a busy day exploring this beautiful island. There is also a cosy lounge which is ideal for socialising and is stocked with books, games, plasma screen TV and comfy couches.

Our modern hostel also has hot showers available and there is a laundry and drying room – great for drying off those wetsuits and walking gear.

The building has been designed to allow disabled access, including level access throughout, accessible car parking, accessible WC and shower facilities with grab rails and seat. We have one accessible bedroom and the kitchen, corridors and laundry room all incorporate space for a turning circle for wheelchair users.

There many places to visit while staying on this glorious island. From wildlife to watersports and cycling to stargazing, there is plenty to do on Coll. Island tours, kayak hire and shark and wildlife boat trips are available. Arinagour is the main settlement on Coll and you will find most of the local services here, including the ferry terminal, post office, petrol station, shops and accommodation. The medical centre, school, fire station and church are also located in and around Arinagour and the village is generally at its busiest just after the ferry arrives from the mainland. Outside of the village, you’ll find the airport around 4 miles to the southwest, between Uig and Arileod. Nearby is the RSPB bird reserve and information centre at Totronald. Situated around 3 miles west of Arinagour, Ballyhaugh is the home to Project Trust, the single biggest employer on the island with over 40 years of operations.

There is a wide variety of breeding species on Coll and there’s a good chance of seeing meadow pipits, twite, skylarks and stonechats amongst others. Coll is also home to approximately 10% of the UK population of corncrakes in the summer. In Winter time huge flocks of barnacle geese, greylag geese and white fronted geese inhabit the island. On the ferry over from the mainland, it’s possible to see petrels, gannets, Manx shearwaters, auks and a range of other seabirds.
