Corcreggan Mill, Dunfanaghy, Co Donegal
Corcreggan Mill is a family & pet friendly camping and glamping site located in a stunning part of Co Donegal by Dunfanaghy. We offer a range of glamping options as well as well kept camping and caravanning facilities that has seen many visitors returning time and time again.
We have three, very popular, fully furnished glamping tents which can accommodate two, three or four people in each. These military style bell tents are equipped with one double and two single beds; electric lighting and plug sockets; rugs and bedside lockers. They are located in our garden, beside the meditation sanctuary. A full continental, buffet breakfast is included and provided in the glamping gazebo alongside, where there is also a BBQ unit with overhead cover.
Our small, informal campsite, beside the mill stream on the cottage lawn, suits those seeking an adventurous experience as close to nature as possible but in a safe, peaceful environment with dedicated showers, toilets and kitchen available.
For those who fancy something slightly different and extra special, we have a 150 year old mahogany railway carriage. The ‘Railway Station’ housing the Carriage also has a self catering kitchen, dining and an open fire sitting room to the rear. There is a wash hand basin in each sleeping compartment and there are toilets and showers at either end of the carriage. Oil fired central heating throughout the building. Behind the carriage there's a self catering kitchen, a dining room and a comfortable sitting room with open fireplace for your use. Also, hot showers, and of course a free and extensive continental breakfast! A full Irish breakfast or a simple evening meal is available at reasonable rates, if required.
The newly restored and converted, Fishing Trawler Wheelhouse has to be one of the most quirky and romantic glamping units in Ireland. The authentic old wheelhouse is fitted out now with a kitchen, couch/bed, dining and a shower/toilet/basin room attached. There is also a BBQ on the bow of your ship and, on the roof patio - large wooden deck-chairs offer the best uninterrupted views from the property over Horn Head, New Lake Nature Reserve and the Atlantic Ocean out to Tory Island.
There is a wide variety of spectacular scenery nearby or within easy reach. Just across the road is New Lake, a protected wildlife sanctuary and unique eco-system (formed by a natural disaster in 1917). If you want a peaceful, country lane walk, there is none better than the road behind (south of) Corcreggan, rather than the sometimes busy N.56. This quiet country road is also a better option for getting to Dunfanaghy on foot or by bike. The white stain down the centre of the mountain shows where the old Silica mine and workings used to operate. Things to do in the area The wonderful scenery is made more accessible and enjoyable because of the wide variety of activities which one can participate in or attend in the immediate locality.
