Queens Head Inn, Tirril, Penrith, Cumbria
The Queen’s Head Inn set in the centre of the quaint village of Tirril, Penrith which nestles just outside of Cumbria’s mountainous and idyllic Lake District National Park. Originally built in 1719 the Queen’s Head Inn has been in use as a pub since that time gathering memorabilia and character you would expect from an age-old Inn and now offers dog friendly bed and breakfast accommodation in its 7 attractive guest rooms.
Our bed and breakfast accommodation has sturdy two foot thick stone walls, typical of Cumbria’s traditional buildings, meaning it keeps cool in summer whilst retaining the heat of the roaring fire in winter. If you are sat in the fireplace take the opportunity to look up and you can see the original meat hooks for smoking meats still in place!
We have 7 guest rooms, made up of 5 double guest rooms, 1 twin and 1 triple room, all are en suite, fully furnished and come well equipped with facilities such as hairdryers, TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
After a relaxing night’s stay guests can visit our cosy dining room, where traditional home cooked food is prepared daily. From a hearty full cooked breakfast that will set you up for a day on England’s highest peak, to the braised shoulder of Lakeland Lamb in its own red currant gravy, the best of traditional British food is always available. We also have a cosy bar where guests can relax with a wide range of drinks. Food menus are changed regularly so that we can make the most of seasonal produce such as local venison and pheasant over winter and locally smoked Ullswater trout for salads in the summer.
The Queen’s Head Inn set in the centre of the village of Tirril, is nestled on the edge of the Lake District just two and a half miles from Ullswater, one of Lakeland’s most majestic lakes. The Queen’s Head is only 2 miles from the M6 and A66 ideal for exploring further afield to the Eden Valley, North Yorkshire moors of the Brontes fame or even Hadrian’s wall.
