Heckbarley And The Old Post Office offers charming self catering accommodation in the delightful village of Ennerdale Bridge. Our two Cumbrian properties offer the ultimate country retreat and are only 1 mile from stunning Ennerdale Water.

The Cottage: This fantastic cottage sleeps up to 10 people and is tastefully furnished throughout. The cottage boasts glorious views over the fells and fields to the River Ehen. Unwind in the comfy lounge with has a wood/coal burning stove for the chillier evenings and catch your favourite show on the Satellite TV which includes a full Sky package and a DVD player. Doors open onto a delightful west-facing patio, a great spot for a glass of wine whilst savouring the view. You can also unwind in the sun-filled conservatory and the fully-equipped kitchen which comes with an electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, dishwasher and fitted units.

The attractive master bedroom comes with a sumptuous king-size bed, en suite facilities and offers wonderful countryside views. The large family room under the eaves is home to a double and a single bed. Additionally, a twin and single room enjoy lovely views over the village and mountains.

The Old Post Office: Our superb cottage is brimming with lots of natural light and sleeps up to 10 – 12 people in six attractive bedrooms. Additionally, there is one bathroom and a cloakroom with a WC/washbasin. It lies within the Lake District National Park and enjoys outstanding views over a field and stream to the rear. Outside there are seating areas, great for al fresco dining when admiring the view.

Downstairs there is a spacious living/dining area with a high ceiling and original beams, offering a lovely space to unwind with friends or family. A TV comes with BT sport channels and a large wood/coal burning stove is great for the winter months. A fully fitted kitchen comes with a range of appliances for home cooking. On the ground floor there is a twin room and a cloakroom. The first floor has a king room, 2 twin rooms and a large family bathroom. On the second floor, there is a further king and twin room.

We are in a fantastic position for discovering the local area. The River Ehen and the family-friendly Shepherds Arms pub is within walking distance, whilst the Western lakes and the Cumbrian coast are accessible by car. The Lake District National Park offers scenic footpaths which make the most of the stunning landscape. Visit England’s highest peak and deepest lake at Scafell and Wastwater or relax in the sandy beach at St Bees. Further attractions to visit include:
