The Glen Rothay offers guest accommodation in the stunning Lake District. The best walks in the Lake District start right from our doorstep, or just relax in this famous old building and enjoy the good food, real ales and open fires.

Superior Rooms - These are the best rooms in the Hotel. Very spacious rooms with feature beds and good bathrooms. Big windows give great views as you relax in the comfy seats. The Woodland suite in the cottage in the Hotel grounds is perfect for families, with two rooms and lots of space.

Standard Rooms - Comfortable beds, great breakfast and good value for money. Small ensuite bathrooms, with a shower or a bath. Double or Twin. These rooms have limited views.

Badger Bar - Nothing fits and nothing’s normal – from the wonky floors to the even wonkier walls. The tables and chairs also sit at their own unique angles as do some of the more mature gents, sipping pints of fine local ales. The Inn is a free house and has a changing selection of ales.

Food - We are a traditional inn serving good food. Snacks and pub classic meals are available using locally sourced foods and seasonal ingredients. Spend the afternoon in our large beer garden or come inside the 400-year-old inn.

Ambleside and Grasmere are close by, and there are glorious views all around. It is not surprising that William Wordsworth chose to live most of his life at Rydal Mount, just behind us on the fellside. And every evening you can see the badgers being fed in our grounds. Where else can you get all that?
