Set spectacularly amidst the wildest scenery of the Derbyshire Peak District, Edale is the starting point of Britainís first and most famous long distance path, the 270 mile Pennine Way. There are also numerous shorter walks to suit everyone from the beginner to the amateur mountaineer. The village has a shop, two pubs, a welcoming church, an information centre (and mountain rescue post!). Despite its remote appeal Edale can be easily reached by road or by train on the Hope Valley line between Manchester and Sheffield, guests can be met at the station if necessary.
Whilst Edale is spectacular, there are many other attractions all but a short drive away. Just over the hill lies the attractive village of Castleton, with its popular show caves, gift shops and Norman castle. The stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are in easy reach, as well as the elegant spa town of Buxton, the market town of Bakewell and not forgetting the attractions of the Derbyshire Dales themselves.
