The George Hotel is Situated on the banks of the River Tees, The George Hotel is much more than a coaching inn. Behind it’s traditional facade, the George has a wonderful Ball room, recently renovated, a restaurant overlooking the river, function rooms and 29 bedrooms.

You can choose from 29 classic to executive bedrooms; many of the rooms boast river views with peacefulness in a rural setting the perfect setting for a nights sleep. Being a 16th century building each bedroom is individual, they all offer quality linen and free internet access with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.

Roaring log fires are situated in our main bar, the perfect place to rest awhile and enjoy a pint of local ale, a glass of wine, and perhaps sample some traditional, locally sourced dishes from our tempting bar menu.

At the George Hotel we have 2 perfect settings for you to enjoy food and beverages. Food is served all day and is available in our Snug Bar and in our Riverside Restaurant.

Locally sourced fresh ingredients make for an exciting menu in the Riverside Restaurant, where service extends ‘al fresco’ during the spring and summer months onto the riverside terrace, a great place to watch the world go by.

Treesleep – did you know that from the revenue we receive from every one of our hotel bedroom sales we donate the cost of a new baby tree to our local woodland trust? In this way we not only contribute towards a great local ‘green’ cause, we also provide our hotel guests with the wonderful feelgood factor of knowing that just by choosing to spend the night in our hotel, a little tree will grow!

At the rear of the George Hotel, with an Island in the Tees, is a wonderful rear garden where you can relax and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere while sipping a glass of your favourite tipple and enjoy the view of the River Tees and historic bridge.
