The Lodge, Dallington, Heathfield, East Sussex
The Lodge in Dallington is a detached self catering, pet friendly holiday cottage set in a scenic rural setting at the end of a ‘no through road’ in Heathfield. Our holiday cottage is an ideal peaceful retreat for any East Sussex getaway with picturesque rural countryside walks and a network of footpaths and bridleways that cross the local forests and farmland with its abundant wildlife.
The Lodge is comfortably furnished with accommodation comprising of a double bedroom and single bed in the large open plan lounge, well equipped kitchen, office area and a shower room with toilet and hand basin. An entrance hall leading into a lounge/living area that has panoramic views of the surroundings and if you’re lucky, you may be able to catch a glimpse of the deer frolicking in the fields that adjoin our property.
Outside there is a large private secure fenced garden, ideal to let the dogs stretch their legs and decking with a lawn that is perfect to relax with a glass of red in the afternoon and evening sun. This is also a very good spot to view the night sky. No pollution or lights.
There is a further area of south east facing decking that can provide a sunny breakfast area. There is also ample off-road parking.
We welcome both cats and dogs and are confident that they will be safe and happy here. There are many fabulous walks surrounding our property and there is the International Cat Rescue Centre very near that can provide boarding if required. The coast is also within easy reach with large sandy beaches at Normans Bay and slightly further afield at Camber Sands on Romney Marsh and the charming old port of Rye. Rye Harbour nature reserve is also a popular attraction for birdwatchers visiting the area.

There is also Glyndebourne Opera on all summer nearby and is about 20 mins away. There are also many open gardens nearby within a short travelling distance and several historic castles such as Pevensey Castle, Herstmonceux Castle and Bodiam Castle. The cuckoo trail is nearby for cyclists. The picturesque trail follows the former ‘Cuckoo Line’ railway track and stretches from Heathfield to Eastbourne Park. It passes through Horam, Hailsham and Polegate. Bewl water reservoir is also a wonderful path for cyclists to enjoy. We also have many local dog shows nearby as well. There is international show jumping at Hickstead and the beach is nearby.
There are plenty of cool sandy areas and an enclosed garden for dogs. There are lovely walks with streams nearby, 150 yards from the house. All walks are off road with lovely scenery. There are lots of gardens and national trust properties which are dog friendly which are very near The Lodge. Nearby there are good food pubs which are dog friendly.
