Details

The Golf Hotel, situated in the heart of the historic town of Crail in the East Neuk of Fife, is a grade A listed coaching inn and is said to be one of the oldest licensed inns in Scotland. Built in 1721, the hotel is a fine example of local architecture, featuring crow-stepped gables and retaining original old beams, low ceilings, wooden floors and stables.

The Golf Hotel has been tastefully refurbished to enhance its original features, whilst still providing guests with the comfortable, modern accommodation that make it a Visit Scotland 3 star establishment.

The Golf Hotel has five bedrooms - two double and three twin rooms. All rooms have en-suite facilities. Parties larger than ten can also be accommodated through negotiated room rates at Crail guest houses nearby.

The rooms are noted for their character and focus on high standards of cleanliness and comfort. Guests can make themselves at home with coffee and tea-making facilities and flat screen Sky television in each bedroom. Or relax with a 'wee dram' or a cup of tea in our residents’ sitting room.

We also have free WIFI throughout the hotel.

Eating out in The Golf Hotel restaurant has long been popular with locals and visitors alike. Proprietor and chef Graham Guthrie prides himself in home cooking and has a long experience in the food industry, so knows how to offer value for money. The varied menus are planned by Graham himself, who enjoys creating innovative dishes: fresh monkfish with funky salsa being just one example. Seafood in particular is very popular, as freshness is guaranteed with locally caught fish, lobster and crab from Crail and Pittenweem harbours.

Food is served all day, meaning you can be flexible with your day’s activities, and you can choose to eat in either the bright, spacious dining room or the sheltered garden restaurant. Here breakfast can be served al fresco - or why not simply enjoy a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio and a spot of lunch while catching the sun.

Crail itself is famed for its quiet and unspoiled charm. The 16th century Dutch built harbour with its original pier, fishing cottages and red pan tile roofs has featured in many magazines, photographs and films. A coastal walk which takes its path through Crail to St Andrews offers stunning views out to sea, passing rocky harbours and yellow sands.

The area is a golfer's paradise. Crail Golfing Society's two 18-hole links courses are a five minute drive from the hotel.

Add to all of this the fact that Crail has one of the sunniest climates in Britain and you will realise that a stay at The Golf Hotel is one never to forget.
