The White Horse, Dover, Kent
The White Horse offers fantastic home-cooked food and premium drinks in the shadow of Dover Castle and beside the ruins of a Norman Church. Our award-winning public house in Kent dates to 1365 and was originally home to the Verger to St James Church. The inn is now a centre of activity, offering an eclectic blend of tourists and local alike in relaxing, traditional surroundings.
We offer wonderful seasonal food in a cosy setting. From cider-braised pulled BBQ jackfruit to homemade beouf bourguignon, we have something to suit everyone. For those with a sweet tooth, try our indulgent sticky toffee pudding or delicious warm chocolate brownie, both served with cream or ice cream of course. You can also savour our hearty Sunday roast, including topside of beef, loin of pork, roast chicken or vegetarian/vegan options. All our produce is locally sourced from well-respected suppliers.
On a summerís say, relax and unwind in our beautiful, hidden terraced garden. You wonít find a more atmospheric suntrap, with the ruins of St James Church as our backdrop. Following a comprehensive garden refurbishment in 2018, the terrace garden now offers a brilliant space for enjoying good food over a few drinks in the sunshine. Throughout the summer, local musicians like C W Lawson provide excellent acoustic music to provide a chilled out, relaxed summer vibe.
