Gaer & Skirrid Cottages, Cwmyoy, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire
Gaer & Skirrid Cottages are a pair of self catering holiday cottages situated in Lower Cwmyoy near Abergavenny in Monmouthshire. Our cottages are situated in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park - a haven for walkers and cyclists.
Both of our holiday cottages have two en suite bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor. They also have a lovely, cosy sitting room with TV. Both of the self catering cottages have well equipped kitchens, which will also have basic items when you arrive, such as eggs from our own free range hens, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, loo paper and kitchen roll.
The holiday cottages have private terraces and share a large lawn. Guests are also welcome to explore the 45 acres of private ancient meadows and woodland surrounding the cottages which lead up to the Gaer hill fort and Black Mountains beyond.
The lawns next to the cottages are not enclosed and are likely to have chickens roaming around them. Once you have left the chickens behind you are very welcome to let your dog off the lead to explore the woodland and meadows behind the cottages. Because it is private land you are extremely unlikely to encounter other walkers. Depending on the time of year we may have empty stock-fenced fields for you to exercise your dog off-lead in a more enclosed space. Please contact us beforehand if this would be useful to you.
Our holiday cottages have their own delicious spring water supplied to them. We also provide all bed linen, towels and tea towels.
We are superbly placed to explore the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons and just 15 minutes from the market towns of Abergavenny and Crickhowell. The local village is Llanvihangel Crucorney, approximately 1 and a 1/2 miles away. Nearest pubs include the Queen's Head in Lower Cwmyoy and the Skirrid Inn in Llanvihangel.
