Gypsy Palace offers truly unique self catering accommodation in Kirk Yetholm, based on the edge of the Northumberland National park. Located in the foothills of the Cheviot hills near Kelso, we are a paradise for peace and relaxation. Further afield you can visit lots of fabulous attractions in Roxburghshire.

Our fabulous Scottish hideaway is famous the world over as the royal residence of both Queen Esther and her son and heir, King Charles Faa Blythe. This historic retreat now offers superb accommodation for 4 people or a couple. This renowned residence had even featured in the National press and many websites, from The Times to Buzzfeed.

Dating from around the 1800s, this magical cottage is brimming with character and atmosphere, whilst offering quality accommodation. Unwind in the cosy living room which has a stone fireplace and a toasty log burning stove, flat-screen TV with Freeview and a DVD player. Guests also have access to BBC iPlayer and Netflix. The windows take advantage of the glorious views and a gorgeous stained-glass window is nestled between the living room and kitchen. The stone-floored dining area has a magnificent cast iron arched feature window with diamond panes dating from the 19th Century. The walls are adorned with beautiful old photographs and paintings which pay homage to the cottage’s history.

Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen which includes granite work tops, an original porcelain Belfast sink and a range of appliances. The utility room houses the dishwasher, washing machine/dryer and fridge. A stable door leads to the stone patio area, a great spot for a coffee with a morning coffee whilst watching the buzzards gliding overhead.

The cottage has two fabulous bedrooms. The main bedroom has a wrought iron double bed with a comfy memory foam mattress, while the second bedroom have a single bed plus a second pull out bed. Both rooms boast stunning views over the Bowmont Valley and north across to the church, Town Yetholm and the valley beyond. Downstairs there is a wonderful bathroom with a 3-piece suite with a shower and cast iron bath.

Outside you can enjoy the enclosed gardens, stone patios and paths. You can also unwind in the summerhouse, an old railway station waiting room from many years ago. Guests also have access to a storage area for bikes and pushchairs etc.

We are a haven for walkers, with the Pennine Way right on our doorstep. You can also explore the charming market towns, scenic beaches and magnificent castles, all accessible by car. Great attractions to visit include:
