The Old Cider House, Nether Stowey, Bridgwater, Somerset
The Old Cider House is a 4-star bed and breakfast in the heart of the village of Nether Stowey, Quantock Hills, Somerset. If you’re looking for accommodation in the Quantocks then Nether Stowey is the ideal village location. We are a previous winner Kennel Club’s 2008 ‘Somewhere to Sleep’ Award and gives dogs as good an experience as the humans - with a bowl, mat, book of walks and even homemade dog biscuits.
Our dog friendly room “The Poets’ Room” (upstairs, double) is a lovely quiet rear-facing room so pet guests should not be disturbed. The guesthouse has three other rooms including a four-poster, king-size and twin-bedded room.
The cosy and comfortable lounge (dogs welcome) is perfect for relaxing and winding down after a day's sightseeing or walking in the beautiful Quantock Hills. Decorated in keeping with the house's former Edwardian glory, the deep 'art gallery' red walls and open log fire make the room cosy at nights and ideal for reading, struggling with the crossword or playing a board game.
We usually cook each evening for guests who pre-booking a meal. We know that our guests are discerning and want quality, homemade meals at a reasonable price. We are not chefs - just like cooking for friends. We use, wherever possible, local and organic produce - some from our garden. Our eggs come from our own chickens or local free-range flocks. Our meat from the village butcher – Fauns and other local farm suppliers.
The Quantock Hills are on the doorstep of the B&B and the village of Nether Stowey boasts three real ale pubs (all dog friendly) and a bistro all of which are less than a few minutes’ walk from the bed and breakfast.
If you are looking for an activity break, then The Old Cider House is the accommodation for you. Catering for walkers and mountain bikers, bed and breakfast guests have 60 square miles of walking country and mountain bike trails all within a mile of the BB.
