Dog Friendly Days Out

High Force Hotel & Waterfall

Forest-in-Teesdale, Durham

High Force Waterfall offers a truly magical dog friendly day out in Forest-in-Teesdale. Discover the natural splendour of one of the most amazing waterfalls in England, nestled in the heart of county Durham. Our High Force Hotel also offers dog friendly accommodation for you and your four-legged friends. Please ask us about our pet friendly rooms and if you let us know at the time of booking, we can add some ‘doggie treats’ ready for your arrival.

High Force is set in the beautiful countryside of Upper Teesdale, in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The River Tees has flowed into the gorge for thousands of years, with the rocks underneath stretching back even further, from 300 million years ago. The River Tees steadily increases in speed, then dramatically drops 21 metres into the plunge pool. A scenic woodland walk offers you the chance to savour the majestic view at the base of the falls. While visiting us you can also take advantage of the spectacular countryside, forests and open moorland - a haven for walkers. With the Pennine Way and UNESCO Geopark on our doorstep, you really are spoilt for choice.

A convenient kiosk at High Force is perfect if you get a bit peckish, selling delicious ice creams, snacks and drinks to take away. You can also choose to eat in one of our intimate little bars, in the tearoom or outdoors on the patio, in the courtyard or in the garden. We are passionate about good old-fashioned beverages, from a local ale to refreshing cider, we will suit all your needs.

On the ground floor you can get toasty in front of the log burning stove while enjoying a much-needed gin and tonic. Breakfast is served in our low bar and benefits from dual aspect windows which bring an abundance of morning sunshine. We also offer lovely lunches and dinners and a renowned Sunday lunch. Come and savour a traditional roast dinner with the best cuts of local meat, home-made Yorkshire Puddings, crisp roast potatoes and freshly cooked seasonal vegetables with a generous serving of gravy.
