Dog Friendly Days Out

Strumpshaw Hall Steam Museum

Norwich, Norfolk

Strumpshaw Hall Steam Museum in Norwich is perfect for a fantastic dog-friendly day out. Our museum in Norfolk has lots to see, including steam engines, 100-ton beam engines, a narrow-gauge railway, 1930s fairground, mechanical organs and memorabilia. We welcome dogs on leads in the museum and on countryside walks.

Our wonderful museum is steeped in history, dating back several generations, opening originally in 1824. The history makes our museum truly special, a place where the steam engines of the past meet the farm machinery which helped create our future. We have a brilliant range of steam engines, cars and tractors in our museum, ideal for all the family. Whist the sun is shining you can enjoy a picnic lunch in the paddock and admire the beautiful view.

We have two new attractions are the steam museum, including an original 1960s Bucker 28-man life capsule. The capsule was the first totally enclosed, motor propelled, US Coast Guard Approved survival craft ever built for the offshore oil and gas industry anywhere in the world. It was specifically designed for offshore oil worker’s use and safety. You can also see Satan’s Toy, a 950KG International Pulling Tractor. Built in 1991, this was the first and only Jet Turbine Mini Puller Built and raced in the UK. The tractor was very successful and become British champion six times.

You can enjoy a unique and quirky wedding at the Strumpshaw Steam Museum. We are the ideal alternative to big chain hotels, offering a more intimate venue. The paddock converts into a stunning area with oak trees and marquees, with the parkland providing a picturesque backdrop. A decorated train will take your party for a trip around the estate, to complete a memorable day.

We have plenty of room for all types of caravans, motorhomes and tents – please enquire for details.

Please note, due to the Coronavirus we have decided to keep the museum closed for the rest of the season.
