Fia Cottage offers a very high standard of self catering accommodation. It is in Quendale at the southern end of Shetland and only ten minutes from Sumburgh Airport. The cottage makes an excellent base for exploring the whole of Shetland and is only minutes from the amazing Jarlshof at Sumburgh and the lovely Quendale beach is nearby. Beautifully decorated and furnished the cottage is snug and cosy, with home comforts at hand along with all the modern conveniences you could need on a Shetland holiday.
The cottage was originally built as a shop/post office to serve the local community of Quendale. A telephone installed around the early 1940s, was one of the few phones in the area at the time. On 30th March 1942, during World War II, the phone was used to alert RAF Sumburgh that a bomber had been found crashed on nearby Fitful Head.
