Details

A delightful Country Cottage set in a beautiful enclosed garden, Willow is one of two semi-detached former under gardeners cottages for Noddsdale Estate. It is the perfect place for a family holiday with room for a small child and an infant, well behaved dogs and easily accessible with a ramp at the back door.

The front door is reached by steps and leads into the sunroom/porch which is large enough for a small table and chairs to enjoy the views over the countryside to the Firth of Clyde beyond.  One double/twin bedroom is downstairs and the first floor, with charming coombed ceilings and velux windows has one double/twin bedroom, a shower room and a third smaller bedroom, which we call the Cabin and has a full size single bed and a travel cot.

On the ground floor, the sitting room which has an open fire, leads through to the kitchen/dining room.  The hob and oven are electric; there is a fridge/freezer and a dishwasher.  Plenty of crockery and glass and child friendly plates etc.  The dining table seats up to 6 and there is a high chair plus a junior chair to keep the youngsters happy.

There is a bathroom which has a bath and a separate walk in shower and a utility room with a washing machine and tumble drier by the back door. There is a drying whirlygig outside the utility room if you would rather use the Ayrshire breeze in dry weather.

The cottage is very well equipped and has oil central heating.  Logs are supplied for the open fire in the sitting room.  There is a shed in the garden where garden chairs are stored and could be useful for bikes etc.

Pillows and duvets are 100% British Wool from The Wool Room, traceable back to the farm they came from, allergy friendly and wonderfully comforting – warm in winter and cool in summer – bliss! Linen is 100% cotton and at least 250 thread count. The beds are large and comfortable for a great sleep.

Set back from Brisbane Glen Road, there is parking for 2 cars and it is just under 2 miles from the centre of Largs.  The Glen is a peaceful place to enjoy a holiday with walks up Knock Hill opposite the entrance to the cottages, and walks up behind Noddsdale House onto the hill with fabulous views over the Firth of Clyde, Cumbrae, Bute and Arran.  We have our own micro hydro electric scheme with a small dam up the hill and we also have a tennis court in the garden which is shared with the family and other guests. Do bring your own tennis racquets etc if you would like to play.

What our guests had to say about Willow Cottage

Large cosy cottage, lovely garden, stunning location

June 2023

This delightful, beautifully-equipped cottage is in a lovely setting in the Noddsdale Valley, yet is but a few minutes drive from the centre of Largs. We were met by our charming host, Jane Evans, who drove down to give us the keys and to show us around the cottage. She was both helpful and friendly. We were made very welcome.
It would have been very nice to have been able to stay longer!

October 2022

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Willow Cottage. This was our first holiday with our five month-old baby, and we hugely appreciated the various appliances in the house (v. modern washing machine, tumble dryer, etc) and the extra effort Jane went to (setting up a cot for us) that helped keep things as easy and relaxing as possible. It was great to explore the various local walks and to make the most from the close proximity to Largs (fantastic 'carry oots' from Tinto tapas bar and Fish Works on the sea front). Have no doubt we'll be back.
